Investigation of self-healing ability of hydroxyapatite blended cement paste modified with graphene oxide and silver nanoparticles

Cracks that occur over time are difficult to detect and repair, they threaten the safety durability of buildings limit sustainable building design. This study investigates feasibility using hydroxyapatite (HAp) with graphene oxide silver nanoparticles self-heal narrow cracks detect. Ultrasonic pulse velocity, compressive strength, portlandite content, percentage water absorption porosity recovery was observed increases 77.5%, 259.6%, 406.28%, 35.1% 22.0% respectively for 0.1 wt% HAp content. Healing efficiency micro-crack width on surface cement pastes reached 62.52%, by incorporating nanoparticles. The healing property found be associated hydrogen bonds, electrostatic interactions negatively charged PO4-3 OH– ions groups development formed reaction between Ca2+ ions.
